"Oh, my love, this is the beginning. Open up your eyes so you don't miss it."

New Year's Eve always seems to be a disappointment, probably because it's supposed to be the biggest event of the year. The expectations are so high that somehow the party is never quite big enough, you're not with all the exact people you want to spend the evening with, or you don't have a special someone to kiss at midnight....a New Year represents so much excitement and newness that the celebration needs to live up to the challenge. So, over the years, I've learned to set my expectations low. After it worked out that I could join my family in West Palm Beach, Florida, for my cousin's wedding, I only had one goal: to not be sitting in the Super 8 Motel when midnight came, watching the rest of my family sleep. Not only did I reach my goal, but I FAR exceeded it, and it was one of the best New Year's weekends to date! Cheers to a new year and another new beginning...
After Captain Tony flew us down, we had time to enjoy lunch on the pier in West Palm. The warm weather and sunshine was delightful! Summer dresses and flip flops in December? What? Don't mind if do.
Only 1226 miles from NYC...
The rehearsal dinner ended that night in time to head downtown. I rang in the new year with my beloved family, lots of palm trees, and an amazing fireworks show :)
The morning of New Year's Day, we went to the lovely wedding of my cousin Tiffany and her new husband Josh. Beautiful ceremony and beautiful day for everyone!
After meeting up with my cousin Dee Dee and her friends (who happened to be down the road in Delray Beach), we snuck in some beach time before heading home.
Then, we flew off into the sunset...
